About this week, we will begin the finals this week (Wednesday) with the presentations. Please refer to the assignment sheet for further details.
This semester I will offer an extra-credit activity. Of course this activity is optional. The objective is to help you improve one poor grade you have obtained this semester. If you do this extra-credit activity, you will be able to 1. replace one of the lowest grades you have within the Short assignments or the Listening activities. 2. raise the grade you obtained in the Proficiency Test. I will average the grades you get from the extracredit and the grade you obtained in the Proficiency Test (I know most of you received a low grade in the latter).
This is the task (PLEASE, follow the instruction down the line. You will be docked points if you don't do so)
1. You will transcribe the following recording https://www.dropbox.com/s/uh1ypej2v0i2ao0/extracredit.mp3?dl=0
2. You will type it and double-space it
3. You will bring it to class on May 25.
4. The assignment will not be accepted by email, received if sent with another person, or any other way. You will bring it to class personally and we will grade it. Since I am trying to accommodate this extra-credit activity at the time of the final exam (presentations), you must be aware that we might have to stay longer on the 25th. If you anticipate that you can't stay longer that day, please don't take up the extra-credit assignment.

ReplyDeleteMe dirijo a usted por medio de esta carta para manifestarle mi descontento frente a las dos últimas evaluaciones que hemos tenido.
Para comenzar quiero preguntar porqué se evalúa algo para lo que no se preparó, es decir, todo el semestres se estuvo trabajando sobre las tipologías discursivas y la multi modalidad pero de pronto aparece un examen de proficiencia que, aunque estaba en el sillabus, se anunció días antes de la misma y pues me genera inconformidad que, si se supone que en ambos grupos de inglés V se ve lo mismo porqué, el otro grupo no lo hizo. Además, en uno de los puntos decía algo de completar lógicamente en inglés, pensé que lo que importaba era que tuviera sentido la oración pero al parecer, era libertad con única respuesta. Pero bueno al menos le resalto el interés por ayudarnos dándonos la oportunidad de hacer un trabajo extra, se lo agradezco.
Ahora bien, la evaluación que se hizo del debate fue muy subjetivo, quedamos sujetos a lo que los compañeros quieran evaluar y no me parece, porque entonces ¿dónde queda la palabra del profesor? Si a usted le parece que tan mal lo hicimos háganoslo saber pero que sea bajo su criterio, porque siendo honestos profesor le digo que muchas personas no prestan atención al trabajo del otro porque finamente lo único que importa es que el profesor vea que "si se hizo la tarea" para recibir la nota. Entonces, me gustaría que se hiciera algo al respecto porque me parece injusto, yo personalmente le pongo a todo el mundo "bien" porque la intención no es hacerle zancadilla al otro porque además NO GANO NADA, solo sería hacerle el mal. Entonces, si se va a ver la evaluación como un factor que filtra en vez de algo para mejorar, mejor que sólo sea ud el que tenga ese poder. Si quiero, yo como compañero de clase, hacer una observación lo hago por fuera porque me interesa que mejore.
Sinceramente me voy muy aburrido del curso porque, primero, siento que los resultados que se estaban buscando eran demasiado altos; a veces, me parecía que en vez de verse el lado positivo de las presentaciones se buscaba era resaltar lo malo y pues eso desalienta a hacer un nuevo trabajo. Igual, soy consciente de que usted es quien finalmente decide como dirigir su clase, pero ojalá tenga en cuenta esto que le escribo hoy.
